Fixed braces are still one of the most popular ways to straighten teeth to produce a more aligned, symmetrical, and even looking smile. These braces are the more traditional option and present a cost-effective way to achieve your smile ambitions within 18-24 months.
Like ceramic braces, fixed braces are affixed to the front of the teeth and are made up of brackets and archwires running through them. Working together, the brackets and archwires gently and gradually move the teeth into the desired position. With fixed braces, the wire is held in place with something called a module – a small, coloured loop.
Fixed braces require adjustment while the patient is wearing them, and we’ll ask you to come back to the practice every 6-8 weeks or so. This is so we can make adjustments and ensure that the fixed braces are working as required – and that they are as comfortable as possible for the patient.
